Cherie Christiansen, host of the KZYX Farm and Garden Show and founder of the Seed Exchange at the Mendocino Farmer’s Market, will be the speaker Sunday, September 25 at the Kelley House Sunday Afternoon With… program in conjunction with the current exhibit When Farm to Table was Everyday.
She will talk about why seeds—the beginning of any food crop—are essential to the health of our food, our farms, and our families and why seeds matter historically and right now. She will also tell the story of how the biannual Seed Exchange at the Mendocino Farmer’s Market was started 10 years ago.
Ms. Christiansen has been gardening in Mendocino for over 45 years and continues to devote herself to the awareness of good food grown locally.
The Kelley House Museum exhibit examines the history of local agriculture including how the local population produced the food they needed, and where they did it. It includes many fascinating photos of historic products and producers.
The September 25th program will be 4:00-5:00pm at the museum, 45007 Albion St., Mendocino. $5.00 for members, $7.00 for non-members is requested at the door and no reservations are necessary.
