A love letter to libraries, Check It Out began as a series of newspaper articles on the history of libraries and reading rooms along the Mendocino Coast, from Westport to Gualala. The columns were greeted with such a positive reader response that we compiled them into a single volume and added a final chapter in praise of librarians.
